An early start today, we are being collected at 7.30am. After picking up other guests along the way we are off to Boulder City to catch a flight to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. We have picked a perfect day with little wind and clear sky.
The one hour flight allows us to see Hoover Dam, Colorado River and the canyon(s) from the air. After landing at Grand Canyon Airport we are briefed on safety for our 30 minute helicopter flight over the canyon.
The south rim is 7000 feet above sea level so it gets cold and there's still traces of snow to be seen.
The helicopter flight allowed us to enjoy some spectacular views....but I don't think we had the best seats. The two seats in the front would have had the best views followed by the rear right hand seat. We were back middle and back left.
After landing we were onto a bus and off to a lodge area in the national park for lunch. Not allowed to feed the wild animals but a tame squirrel got some potato chips from Jeff (without coming to the notice of a park ranger.)
