Washington DC

Morning 1 in Washington and we're ready for the free shuttle bus into central DC. We get dropped off at the Washington Monument, get our bearings and the head to1600 Pennsylvania Boulevard for morning tea with Barry.

Next stop is the Museum of American History, WW2 Memorial, Reflection Pond (where Forrest chanced across Miss Jenny), Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Martin Luther King Jnr Memorial and finally the Museum of Native Indian History.

All really good, BIG, and crowded.

In the evening we went to a precinct called Yards which is near our hotel. Similar to Melbourne's Docklands, it contains a lot of new developments alongside the Navy Yards. The Washington Nats were hosting a baseball game against Atlanta in honour of the victims of a mass shooting at the Navy Yards in September 2013 when 12 people were killed.

Saturday night, a baseball game....needless to say the area was very busy. We found a nice little corner bar at the Marriott. All just a short walk from our hotel.

The Navy Yards have a significant history. www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq52-1.htm
