Hawaii and Waikiki

I estimate it was 20 hours from the time we left Morgan's place in Toronto until we arrived at our  lodgings in Waikiki. Two flights and a stopover in LA, plus customs, immigration etc.....what a pain in the arse.

The positive was that we had lots of legroom in both flights with American Airlines. Not sure if that's standard or not as we were seated near the front, and i had asked the lady at check-in for seats with extra legroom??

Hawaii is very beautiful. Tropical, of course. Waikiki is just out of Honolulu and the beaches are beautiful. Generally very crowded and what i would describe as city beaches.

Day 2 we did a coach tour of the Island. We are on Oahu....i'm sure you know. Good value and got an entertaining Driver/Tour Guide. It included the northern beaches so we got to see Sunset and Pipeline, although it's not the time of year for big waves.

Day 4 we did a tour of Pearl Harbour. Got 'Cousin Ted' again as our Driver/Tour Guide so we got to hear his jokes a second time!

As i write it's Day 5, our final day in Hawaii before flying home to Melbourne tomorrow. In time for Melbourne's winter! In Toronto people refer to winter as being 'brutal', so we shouldn't complain as ours really is quite moderate (and miserable).
